Racing oil contains three times more anti-wear and friction-reducing additives than regular oil. To make room for this higher dose, manufacturers pull out detergents, anti-corrosion and anti-foamers, which are exactly the additives you desperately need to keep your street engine running clean for nearly 5,000 miles.

Replace engine oil with racing oil

Motorsports engineers use a lower-viscosity oil with more friction. Then they switch to a higher viscosity racing oil. Racing teams need about 1,900 liters of oil per car per season. In a typical NASCAR race, oil temperatures can reach 160 degrees Celsius. Team crews bring about 56 liters of oil per car. The teams analyze the oil after each race. They check viscosity change, wear metal level and oxidation to see how engine wear is.

Racing oil is a special blend of oil designed for the rigors of high speeds, not for everyday driving and does not add power to your engine. This is why regular motor oil is better for your engine. Because your engine is not as strong as you race a lot, or your engine reaches a lot of horse power, you may need this oil.
