car clutch system

The clutch is the element ensuring the connection between the rotational movement generated by the engine and the wheels. It also allows the driver to switch between the different gears available on his vehicle. By choosing a speed on his gearbox, the user will be able to change the power generated by the engine. It is the role of the clutch to transmit these gear changes first from the gearbox to the engine, then from the engine to the wheels, which can go more or less quickly, depending on the speed chosen by the user.

The lower a speed is in the ranking, the more powerful it is. Indeed, each gear must create a sufficiently strong impulse to move the car forward. When it is completely stationary, the car represents a considerable weight, and the impulse which is intended to make it move must be very important. It is for this reason that first gear is the slowest of all, but also the most powerful.

Once a first movement has been transmitted to the wheels and the vehicle has started to pick up speed, the user can engage second gear. If this gear is less powerful than the first gear, it transmits more speed to the wheels, which allows the car to gain in velocity.
